HCL posts 12 per cent increase in net profit for Q3Leading software exporter of country, HCL Technologies announced its quarterly results for the period ending December 3, 2008. It posted 12.1 per cent increase in net profit for the third quart of current financial year.

The company signed many deals in technology, manufacturing and life science sector during the period which helped to increase its business and revenue. The company added new clients including Deutsche Bank, Microsoft, Xerox, Cisco and Viacom during the period.

HCL earned Rs 1,304.85 crore for the quarter as compared to Rs 1,129.20 crore in the same period last year. Its net declined to 9.3% and revenue grew 11% in terms of US dollar. The company said that its margin may decline in coming times under the impact of tight liquidity conditions and global slowdown.

Expressing cautious view over next quarters, HCL Technologies CEO, Vineet Nayar said, "The business of our customers is significantly under threat. We are determining how they will respond to that."

Commenting on company's plan to acquire Satyam Computers, he said, "Everybody is talking to everybody. There is very little overlap with Satyam as of now. Whenever they (the new board) make up their mind about whether they want to sell it or continue as it is, we will evaluate that opportunity."

Meanwhile, HCL announced a second interim dividend of Rs 2 per. The company results also include revenue from British software firm Axon which contributed Rs 86.7 crore in revenues.

Shares of HCL were traded with decline of 4.9% on BSE and closed at Rs 107 on Friday.
