IBM has not given any data to the NSA, says official
Computing giant, IBM has said in a blog post that the company has not given any data to the NSA and also pointed out that it not have "backdoors" in hardware that would allow the NSA to gain access.
The move follows similar announcements by Amazon, Google and Microsoft, who responded to allegations that they shared data with NSA. Robert C. Weber IBM Senior Vice President, Legal and Regulatory Affairs, and General Counsel has said that IBM hardware is not compromised by NSA.
The blog post pointed out that it is different from companies that provide both hardware and software like Microsoft. Government sought data housed on IBM hardware but the company did not facilitate such transfer of data as IBM only provides machines and not the software. The company has not offered proofs that the data was not compromised.
The post will assure some of the clients of the company but many say that the company will have to provide more details in order to prove that it did not allow the government agency to access data on its machines.
