Illinois Governor Pat Quinn visits Mexico

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn visits MexicoPat Quinn, the Government of the American state of Illinois is holding a thre- day visit to neighbouring Mexico.

During the visit he will hold meetings to forge mutual partnerships with trade partners. He will also call upon the secretary of agriculture of the government of Mexico. He will also attend Illinois tourism event and will sign a "Sister Lakes" pact with the Mexican authorities. He will be the first Illinois governor to visit after a period of about thirteen years. He will also meet two state governors and mayors of Mexico City and Patzcuaro

Quinn has said that is working to ensure that the manufactures of water pumps and manufacturers of other water and wastewater treatment supplies from the state have a equal chance of winning trade deals in the neighbouring country. He wants the Illinois-based manufactures to be able to compete fairly in the country.

Quinn said, "All of us want to work together with Mexico in developing clean water technologies dealing with drinking water, wastewater treatment. These are things that can't be ignored and they create a lot of jobs here in Illinois, so this is a very good opportunity for us to expand our economy."
