Indian outsourcers aiming for an image makeover in the USLeading Indian IT sector outsourcers are aiming get an image get over in the US market as the public sentiment is being turned against general outsourcing by various segments for the upcoming UP presidential elections.

Wipro, Infosys and others want to be perceived not as a cheaper alternative for performing jobs but as responsible US listed firms that are creating jobs and investing int the future of the country.

Officials in Indian firms say that they wish to become part of the US job market and attract young talent in the country. It is claimed that India's $100 billion IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) industry supports more than 107,000 jobs in the US. Out of the this number, about a third are Americans working for Indian firms.

The makeover is more required at this tie because of the upcoming US presidential elections in November, in which jobs is set to be a core issue and much hype will be created against outsourcing.

President Barack Obama has already said that he would tax firms that export jobs to foreign locations and cause looses to the US job market. The Indian Information Technology firms are bracing themselves for a difficult year ahead due to the ongoing debt crisis in the European countries as well as policies in the US states that discourages outsourcing by firms.
