Indian shares gain over 2 per cent following Asian cues

BSENew Delhi  - India share markets gained over 2 per cent Thursday following cues on other Asian markets.

Bombay Stock Exchange's 30-share sensitive index Sensex closed at 17353, up 375.19 points or 2.21 per cent on its previous close after a steady session of trading.

The broader 50-share Nifty of the National Stock Exchange closed at 5115, up 103 points or 2.02 per cent from the previous close.

There was strong performance by capital goods, oil and gas, power and metal scrips.

Top gainers included Reliance Communications and Larsen and Toubro, whose ready-mix-concrete business was acquired by French cement giant Lafarge for 14.80 billion rupees (about 3.47 million dollars) Thursday morning. (dpa)
