India's Sensex bounces back, gains 5.4 per cent
New Delhi - India's benchmark Sensex index recovered on Wednesday, posting a gain of 5.4 per cent to partially offset the 10 per cent loss in the last three trading sessions.
The 30-share-sensitive index, which slumped below 13,000 on Tuesday, a level last seen in April last year, gained 702.94 points to end the day's trade at 13,664.62.
Market analysts said there was a revival of buying by funds in blue-chip stocks and all sectoral indices, barring the fast-moving consumer goods segment.
The broader S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange rose by 5.05 per cent, as it climbed by 196.06 points to 4,093.35. (dpa)
