Jaguar Land Rover announces to close factory

The move by auto giant Jaguar Land Rover, owned by Indian automobile giant Tata, to close own one of its plant in UK irked the Workers Union. The union alleged that the firm is proposing to close its final salary scheme for new staff.

Besides, new recruitments would be made by Jaguar Land Rover offering 20 per cent less salary as being drawn by current employees.

The recession hit company has announced to close its Jaguars manufacturing utility at Castle Bromwich in the West Midlands.

The firm, however, maintained that it is not going to retrench any worker and they would be adjusted in the forthcoming Range Rover utility at Halewood on Merseyside where more than 800 new jobs would be created.

Financially troubled Jaguar Land Rover offers 14,500 jobs in UK across its various divisions at Solihull, Halewood, Gaydon and Whitley in the West Midlands.
