Jobless claims falls 42,000 in the US, data
According to the latest data released, the total unemployment claims fell 42,000 during the week as on Thursday in the US.
The Labor Department said on Thursday the total number of claims for state unemployment befits fell 42,000 to a seasonally adjusted 346,000 in the country. The fall in the number of claims reversed the increase recorded in the previous week. The fall of 42,000 was the largest fall in unemployment claims in the country since mid-November.
Data showed that US firms added just 88,000 jobs during the month of March. Economists said that the slowdown in the jobs market in the month of the March may have been a seasonal characteristic. American employers added a seasonally adjusted 88,000 jobs during the month of March, which is its slowest growth since the month of June.
The four week moving average for new jobless claims increased 3,000 to 358,000, which normally indicates creation of around 150,000 jobs per month in the world's largest economy. The fall in the number of claims indicates that the jobs market might be recovering in the American economyafter a slowdown in the previous month.
