London  - Storms and heavy rainfall leading to widespread flooding in Britain over the past few days have claimed at least six lives, the authorities said Monday.

Among the victims were two teenage girls travelling in Land Rover vehicles in flooded areas of Wales, an engineer buried by a landslide in Gloucestershire, in the west of England, and a motorcyclist hit a falling tree branch on a road near Sheffield, in the north of England. (dpa)
