Cairo  - A car bombing at a market near the western Iraqi city of Fallujah killed at least nine people on Tuesday, al-Jazeera reported.

Officials in the town of Amiriya said at least 31 others were injured. The explosion also set several nearby cars on fire.

In a separate incident, an insurgent was killed in the western city of Ramadi as he tried to hide explosives in the city centre, Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported. dpa
