Mahindra & Mahindra to launch ‘Quanto’ compact SUV in India

QuantoIndian automaker, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is planning to launch its new ‘Quanto’ compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the Indian market in the second half of September.

The company said in a statement that the indigenously-designed Quanto is based on the same Ingenio platform, which is also used in its multi-utility vehicle (MUV), Xylo. The name Quanto is derived from the word quantum, which is a reference to product promise of more space, more power, more seats and superior performance. The model will be aimed at customers looking for an entry level sedan or a diesel hatchback.

“We expect the Quanto to offer an exciting upgrade at a premium to customers who are otherwise looking for premium diesel hatchbacks or entry level diesel sedans,” said Pawan Goenka, president, automotive & farm equipment sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra.

He also said that the model will cater to the young urban India which enjoys an active lifestyle. The company has not released the pricing details for the model, but it is belied that it will be priced at around Rs6 lakh for the base model and Rs7.5 lakh for the top end model.
