Mamata Firm On Demand

Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee has declined to roll back her stand on the land issue. She is agitating on the issue of 400 acres of land which is acquired by TATA for its small car project at Singur. She has decided to fight with the government till the recovery of land from TATA. Mamta is heading a dharna manch in front of the factory site for many days.

She said that her party is not against the industrialization of state but the party will never support the government for forcible acquisition of fertile land from the poor farmers of the state. She and her party are struggling against the operession of private company and the state government. The party will agitate in the larger interest of society and stop agitation after the recovery of land. She questioned why the state is favoring TATA group. She demanded impartial behavior with other corporate houses from the state government.

She rebutted the allegations of blocking the Durgapur Expressway by her party. Meanwhile, a large number of her supporters have come on the site for next phase of demonstration. Some party supporters also attacked a van of regional TV channel and blocked the road leading to TATA plant. Left Front chairman and CPM state Secretary Biman Bose has appealed Mamta to stop the agitation for the larger interest of the state.
