A man with history of alcohol abuse charged with threatening congresswoman
It has been reported that a Florida man who says he has a history of alcohol abuse has been charged with calling his congresswoman to tell her she would not live to her next term.
The Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel has reported that Erik Piderman, 66, of Spring Hill was arrested late Sunday. He allegedly left a threatening voicemail message at a local office of U. S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Fla.
Piderman faces federal charges. He was released on bail Monday and ordered to wear an electronic monitor, FBI Agent Dave Couvertier has said.
"Just wanna let you know I have 27 people that are going to make sure that this (expletive) does not live to see her next term. Goodbye," said the message, released by Brown-Waite's staff after it was discovered in late March.
Piderman, during an interview Saturday, said he could not remember making the call and said he has alcoholic blackouts, FBI agents said in an affidavit. He described himself as being on a "toot" when the call was made and acknowledged the voice was his. (With Inputs from Agencies)
