Martin O’Malley Declares his Resort for a New Leadership Role

Martin O’Malley steered clear all doubts, with the big announcement slated for May 30, as this former Governor of Maryland declared in a private conference call, his resort for the presidential run, against front-runner Hillary Clinton.

O’Malley stated, “We need people who know how to get things done and we need new leadership. That’s why I’m here”.

The call featured current and former governors and mayors and about 200 donors, including 100 from Maryland and 100 from other states. O’Malley also held other calls with staff, former staff and friends.

While on the call, O’Malley listed his progressive record in Maryland and his efforts for insurgent Democratic presidential candidate Gary Hart. O’Malley laid forth his vision as a presidential candidate. He ensured to effectively tackle the major challenges of the country and its economy.

O’Malley’s team is ready to make the most of these 15 days window for campaign as the finance laws allow potential candidates to conduct campaign activity for 15 days before officially declaring.

The O’Malley’s team along with its finance council plans to hold a dial-for-dollars working lunch on May 21 in Baltimore.

Also, a fundraising event will be organized by the team at the home of Martin Knott, who is O’Malley’s longtime supporter and has previously hosted two O’Malley fundraiser events, featuring folk rocker, Stephen Stills. Most probably, Knott would serve as O’Malley’s finance chair.

Another fundraiser would be planned by Terry Lierma, former chairman of the Maryland Democratic Party.

O’Malley political action committee staff plans to move to a new campaign headquarters in Baltimore next week. For now they have been working from the same Washington DC building that houses the Democratic Governors Association.

Others who managed the show included O’Malley’s longtime aides, Colm O’Comartun and Adam Goers. The Bill de Blasio’s New York City mayoral run is being handled by Bill Hyers.
