Medical Reg. Act gets green signal from Punjab Govt.The much anticipated Medical Registration Act, which was pending for long struggling to seek an amendment, has finally got a nod from the Punjab government, confirmed the state's Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal.

Punjab government today gave consent to alter the Punjab Medical Registration Act of 1916 in order to make the act "far more relevant and broad-based" with regard to the present state.

This decision was brought in effect after a cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister. The meeting highlighted that the existing Punjab Medical Council would comprise 21 members instead of earlier 11, with a president and vice president to lend support.

Also hinting about an increase in term of the council, Mr. Badal said that the term would now be increased from three years to five years.
