Modi praises women entrepreneurial models form GujaratGujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has praised several women entrepreneurial models that have seen phenomenon success in Gujarat and beyond.

Modi said that Jasuben Pizza is capturing a large market share in the state of Gujarat. Jasuben Pizza was started by the lady with the same name in early forties, after others started to appreciate it when she prepared pizzas for her children. The vegetarian pizzas are known for their Gujraati taste and are well known in the state.

Modi also cited the example of 'Lijjat Papad', which has grown from the village level to a national brand. A group of uneducated women borrowed a sum of Rs. 80 and made 4 packets of Papads. The organisation started work in 1959 and has now seen great success selling products much beyond the state. At present the Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad is a Women's organisation manufacturing various products from Papad, Appalam, Masala, Gehu Atta, Chapati, SASA Detergent Powder, SASA Detergent Cake (Tikia), SASA Liquid Detergent.

He also noted that Amul would not have been such a successful dairy model if not for the grassroots work done by the women in the state. Amul claims that its model helps women gain economic independence.
