Most World cup winners are poor countries

Most World cup winners are poor countriesAccording to a recent report of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) the poor countries had an edge over the rich countries in football World Cup. The report was based on the study of last 80 years of football tournaments and their results. The output of this report is the richer teams were not able to perform well against the poor teams. For example Brazil being the best and favorite team in recent time, has performed well.

On the other hand England's performance is not that much satisfactory. It is struggling to reach the quarter finals of the grand event of football. But in terms of wealth, UK is well ahead of Brazil. The gross domestic product per head in Brazil is $10,000 which is about four times lesser than UK.

The lower economic countries like Latin America have beaten their rivals the Europeans most of the times. In this world football, having a lot of money doesn't mean it can produce lot of goals in the field. Head of macroeconomics of PWC Mr. John Hawksworth said that this survey reflects that the footballing skills can be learned in streets also not only in expensive sports centers. PWC also said the population could have an impact on world cup performance but it is not statistically correct.
