MTS India joins CDMA Development Group

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited The Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL)-owned mobile telephony brand, MTS India, has been scaling new milestones, by increasing its penetration in the highly potential telecom market. The CDMA mobile operator has recently joined the CDMA Development Group (CDG), an international group of CDMA service providers and equipment manufactures. The move will allow exchanging ideas and services with other companies to roll out CDMA2000 wireless systems across the globe.

SSTL President and CEO, Mr. Vsevolod Rozanov said: "MTS India is currently launching CDMA2000 services very aggressively across different telecom circles of the country. As a consortium of international CDMA service providers and manufacturers, CDG provides the right platform for MTS India to connect with the global CDMA community."

SSTL Chief said that the enrolment will provide better exposure to the firm for adopting and learning new technologies in the area of Code Division Multiple access. The CDMA Development Group will soon launch their Open Market Handsets (OMH) initiative for the CDMA mobile segment, enabling customers to buy mobile handsets from the open market and to use an OMH SIM card with wider choice of CDMA devices.

MTS, having around 1.7 million subscribers across six circles in India, is the only new entrant in the country's telecom segment, having license to operate in all 22 telecom circles across India.
