Mukesh Ambani, Radhakrishan Damani and Shiv Nadar Lead India’s Richest

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has undisputed position on the top in the list of rich Indians. He is followed by Radhakrishan Damani with combined assets of USD 11.7 billion. Avenue Supermarts, running a retail chain DMart has pushed Damani in the list of richest Indians. He started the hypermarket chain in 2002. Shiv Nadar, founder of HCL, has ranked at number 3 as his company stock remains strong on the bourses.

Among other rich Indians in Forbes list of richest Indians are Uday Kotak (Kotak Mahindra Bank), Gautam Adani (Adani Enterprises), Lakshmi Mittal and Sunil Bharti Mittal. Sunil Mittal’s assets have witnessed a decline as Reliance’s telecom venture JIO has increased competition in Indian telecom sector. All other telecom companies had to reduce their prices and increase data for consumers in order to remain in the market.

Cyrus Poonawalla ranks at number 8. Kumar Manglam Birla ranks at number 9.

Benu Gopal Bangur of Shree Cement ranks at number 10 in the richest Indians list. His father, Mungee Ram Bangur, a Calcutta stockbroker, and his brother Ram Coowar Bangur, started the Bangur business empire in the late 19th century.
