Kathmandu, Aug 7 : The four-party taskforce will meet today over the issues of power sharing and preparation of a Common Minimum Program (CMP) in Nepal.

On Wednesday, a meeting of the taskforce remained inconclusive as the Maoists and the Nepali Congress (NC) couldn''t reach consensus over implementation of past agreements.

During the meeting NC leaders expressed serious concern that the Maoists have failed to implement any of the past agreements, including those on returning confiscated property and dissolving the paramilitary structure of the Maoists youth wing, Young Communist League (YCL).

The NC leaders said the Maoists haven''t yet created a conducive atmosphere for a consensus Government.

“The Maoists haven''t yet returned confiscated property. They haven''t yet dissolved the paramilitary structure of the YCL," said NC leader Dr Minendra Rijal.

"The Maoists must implement their past commitments immediately and in practice, before forming the government," he added.

However, Maoist leaders raised concern over Government apathy over implementation on its part of past pacts.

Expressing commitment to immediately translate past agreements into practice, the Maoist leaders requested the other parties to reach a common understanding and draft the CMP, but in vain due to lack of trust among the parties.

Maoist spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara, said that they have initiated the process of forging mutual understanding among the parties and moving ahead with consensus to formulate a CMP for the new government.

"We will try to reach a concrete understanding among the parties after holding necessary consultations with the top leaders of the parties," Mahara said, Nepalnews reported. (ANI)
