New Gel For Heart Patients
There is good news for heart patients. The researchers from Israel have developed a
gel that could help to control the further damage of heart. The gel is prepared from brown seaweeds and it helps to block tissue damage.
The gel is required to inject into the heart area. It helps to grow a thick layer of scar tissue and helps in normal functioning of heart. The gel is a result of collective efforts of the team led by Professor Smedar Cohen at Ben Gurion University of isreal.
The initial trails were done on animals. The trails were also done on the heart patients from Germany, Belgium and Israel. The gel is being further tested and it is expected to come in the market by 2011.
Leading British Newspaper termed the discovery as a remarkable in medical history. Almost 20000 heart patients can be saved by using the gel in the most severe cases as per estimates of British doctors.
