On Tuesday, the New York Town Council will present its spending budget presentation. The budget will include funding to have additional officers for the law enforcement division.

A year back, the same proposal was made but it was rejected by Mayor Invoice de Blasio. It was not added in the last price range for fiscal calendar year 2015.

"In get for NYPD to continue to preserve New Yorkers protected while also implementing new reforms and initiatives we require to maximize the overall headcount of the department", said own Council Speaker Melissa Mark- Viverito.

Mark-Viverito thinks that the proposal to increase the headcount is fiscally reliable. It will also provide community security and will also improve community relations. The council comprises of 48 Democrats and three Republicans.

The council has been in lockstep with de Blasio, a Democrat. But rejecting the proposal of selecting the additional officers was quite an unusual moment of disagreement between de Blasio and the council. Main reasons he shared for turning down the proposal were minimal criminal offense figures. He affirmed that the revenue can be better utilized in other places.

In this calendar year, de Blasio entered into a rift with the police union leader and also rank and file cops. In December, protests were carried out when a jury refused to charge a white police officer for putting Eric Garner, a black, in a chokehold.

Many officers spoke against de Blasio. It is said that though the matter has been closed, but some tension exists. It's considered that added manpower would help in retaining the metropolis streets safe and will also lower stress on current officers.

Only change that has come in a year is that de Blasio has become more receptive to the proposal in the community.
