Nintendo’s newest Pokemon game breaks sales records in Australia & NZ

Virgin Mobile announces double-data offerNintendo’s newest Pokemon game, Pokemon X & Y, has become the company’s fastest selling titles in Australia and New Zealand.

The videogame giant announced that it sold more than 100,000 copies of the newest Pokemon X & Y game in Australia and New Zealand within a week after the launch of the game.

The recorded sales figure broke records created by Nintendo’s previous games in the region. Nintendo’s Pokemon Black & White had sold 80,000 copies in a week after launch.

According to Nintendo’s claims, Pokemon X & Y broke Pokemon Black & White’s sales record on its launch day, 12th of October.

Pokemon X & Y game is also performing very well in other regions of the world. In the United States, it followed GTA V in sales figures for the month of October, by scoring combined sales of 1.7 million copies.

It may be noted here that Nintendo is also offering a downloadable version of Pokemon X & Y through its online store for $59.95.

Separately, Nintendo also announced that it sold more than 452,000 units of 3DS systems in the United States during the month of October. The figure represents the biggest sales figure for any portable video game system or home console in a single month of current year.
