Nitish Kumar warns Rabri Devi to prepare for legal action

Nitish Kumar warns Rabri Devi to prepare for legal actionPatna, Apr 6 : With general elections round the corner, the war of words in Bihar is at an all time high.

The derogatory remarks of Rabri Devi, wife of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) chief Rajiv Ranjan at a poll rally in Saran district on April 4 has sparked a huge controversy.

Talking to reporters here today, Kumar said a person who uses such derogatory language should prepare for legal action.

"This country cannot run like this, will it run by abuses? Is this a language of civil society? Civil society has no place for such remarks. Election Commission, you people and if our party wishes to go to court, then there would be a debate. And any one, who indulges in such activities will has to be prepared for legal action," said Kumar.

Senior JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav said Rabri Devi''s remarks were a reflection of the nepotism prevailing in politics.

"This is an irony of politics. It is a sheer example of using people''s trust for the benefit of their family. This is clear from her (Rabri Devi) comments," said Yadav.

Lalu Yadav, however, called Kumar his younger brother.

"Political relations are not dissolved, it is o. k. Nitish Kumar is on a wrong path, but he is my younger brother. We are political people," said Lalu.

On the complaint of the JD (U), the Election Commission is examining the video footage of Rabri Devi. The JD(U) has urged the Election Commission to bar Rabri Devi from election campaigns and also asked for a termination of her membership from the state assembly.

The general elections in Bihar are to be held on April 16, 22, 23, 30 and May 7. (ANI)
