Microsoft offers little to browsers
Microsoft is seemingly following the same pattern of growth in India as it did in Europe.
It provided the users there alternate options for browsing and that helped it grab a significant market in the continent.
The feature available across European region allowed users to download any browser from a set of 12 browsers.
However, it has been facing problems after the settlement of an anti-trust case brought against Microsoft by the European Commission.
In India, Vinod Dhall, Former Chairman of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) says, "The CCI has full jurisdiction to inquire into the abuse of dominance by any company in India."
However, the CCI seemed reluctant and comments that the anti-trust environment doesn't hold ground as the law is new and so are its principles - contribution to greater efficiencies, more innovation and enhancing consumer welfare.
The point to be noted is that the inception stage of CCI happened in 2009, whereas the concerned legislation was passed in 2002.
