Federal grand jury updates its indictment against the terror suspect "Jihad Jane"
By adding charges against a second woman, a federal grand jury in Philadelphia Friday updated its indictment against the terror suspect known as "Jihad Jane."
The superseding indictment accuses Jamie Paulin Ramirez, a 31-year-old U.S. citizen formerly of Colorado, and Colleen R. LaRose, the 46-year-old Pennsylvania woman also known as "Jihad Jane" and "Fatima LaRose," of conspiring to provide material support to terrorists, the U.S. Justice Department said in a release.
It was alleged by Federal prosecutors that the pair traveled to Europe last year to take part in and support violent jihad, or holy war.
According to the authorities, LaRose invited Ramirez to join her at an unspecified location in Europe to attend a "training camp." Ramirez allegedly accepted the invitation and made the journey last September with her child. On the day she arrived in Europe, the indictment says, Ramirez married an un-indicted co-conspirator she had never met in person.
It was further informed by the Justice Department said Ramirez was arrested Friday afternoon in Philadelphia after voluntarily flying to the United States from abroad. (With Inputs from Agencies)
