Thousand Oaks sobriety checkpoint results in 4 DUI arrests
Thousand Oaks police authorities have disclosed that the Thousand Oaks sobriety checkpoint this weekend resulted in the arrest of four motorists who were suspected of driving under the influence (DUI).
The sobriety checkpoint started at 9 p. m. on Saturday on westbound Borchard Road east of Wendy Drive. By late Saturday, the police moved the checkpoint to westbound Avenida de Los Arboles east of Kensington Avenue. The checkpoint ended at 3 a. m. Sunday
As per the police, while one of the motorists was arrested - during the overnight sobriety checkpoint - for drunken driving; another was arrested for possessing cocaine and marijuana.
The police officials also said that, other than the four DUI arrests, four motorists were also found to have low blood alcohol content; and were not allowed to drive away in their vehicles. These motorists had a blood alcohol content of between 0.05 percent and 0.07 percent, which was lower than the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Moreover, 12 citations were also issued by the police to motorists, other than the four DUI arrests, on suspicion of vehicle code violations.
The officials said that they had contact with a total of 448 motorists at the sobriety checkpoint in Thousand Oaks which was funded via a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
