Nordstrom to open a store in Vancouver’s Pacific Centre Mall
Nordstrom, a US based retail giant, has said that it is planning to open its flagship Canadian store in the Pacific Centre Mall in Vancouver in 2015.
Nordstrom said that the 230,000-square-foot downtown store will offer a range of merchandise to the customers. The company also said that it will open smaller sized stores in Calgary, Ottawa and Toronto starting the beginning of 2014.
The retailer is aiming to expand its presence into a total of six to eight urban centers across Canada, according to a company spokeswoman Brooke White. The company indicated that it has been pursuing locations in the country from some years.
Seattle-based department store chain and Canadian mall owner, Cadillac Fairview said that Nordstrom will occupy the space vacated by Sears in the Pacific Centre, Calgary's Chinook Centre, and Rideau Centre in Ottawa.
The company will construct a new sore in Toronto's Sherway Gardens. The company is likely 2014 in Calgary; spring 2015 in Ottawa and Vancouver; and fall 2016 in Toronto. Nordstrom's arrival in Canada will increase the competition in the country and will force existing players to improve in various areas including customers service.
