London, Mar 20 : Imagine opening your inbox and a female voice alerting you to a new email and even reading it out for you. Well, it has now become a reality, thanks to a new device called iLane.

Designed for a car, iLane features a synthesised female voice, which alerts users when a new email has been received and reads out the message.

The gadget, by Intelligent Mechatronic Systems, even responds to the voice to draft a reply, reports the Telegraph.

ILane is currently available in the US and Canada, but the manufacturers are hoping to introduce it to Europe by the end of the year.

Costing 600 dollars, along with an eight dollar per month subscription, the compact device can be mounted on a dashboard, sun visor or air vent.

The device connects wirelessly to BlackBerry smartphones, and is powered through the car''s cigarette lighter.

And users need to wear a Bluetooth headset to issue voice commands and read, delete or reply to e-mails.

Users have the options to send from two stock email responses - "I am in transit and will respond shortly" or "Call me if it''s important" - or they can record a 15-minute voice memo, which can be sent as an email attachment to the correspondent via iLane.

Also, iLane enables people to make phone calls simply by calling out the name of someone in their address book, and can also read out the latest news and sport headlines, weather forecasts and traffic reports.

It can even use the phone''s calendar to remind the users appointments, birthdays and events.

Although, the gadget is only compatible with BlackBerry phones at the moment, but its makers are working towards extending this to other smartphones in future. (ANI)
