Obama eager to end war in Iraq

US-Troops-IraqPresident Obama says he is on track to carry out his promise of ending the Iraq war.

Despite a stalemate situation in Baghdad on efforts to form a new government, Obama is happy with his achievements in Iraq. He is convinced that he will carry out his promise, which he did while campaigning for the post of the president.

Obama's message of opposition to the Iraq war helped him to gain support among Democrats in his presidential election campaign.

While promising to pull troops out of Iraq, Obama had also made clear during his campaign that the United States would maintain a "transitional force" in Iraq for some time to help and train Iraqi forces.

He believes that by the end of August about 90,000 troops will return back to the homeland, and has a goal of calling back all the U.S troops by the end of next year.

The government figures has revealed that the violence rate has sharply decreased as compared to the rate of violence few years back, after the recruitment of U.S. troops in Iraq.
