Ohio woman driving around school bus finishes her unusual ‘idiot’ sign sentence
On Wednesday, 32-year-old Ohio woman Shena Hardin finished the rather unusual sentence which a Municipal Court judge in Cleveland, Ohio, imposed on her after a camera caught her in her attempt to get around a school bus which was unloading children.
The sentence which Municipal Court Judge Pinkey Carr had imposed on Hardin, for smoking and texting while driving on the sidewalk past a school bus, was to hold out an embarrassing sign-post at a busy road junction.
The sign which Hardin stood out holding for an hour on Tuesday and on Wednesday, in sub-zero temperatures at the corner of 38th and Superior, read thus: "Only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus."
While serving out the usual sentence at the busy road junction, Hardin - whose license was also suspended for one month, and who was ordered to pay $250 in court costs - reportedly wore headphones, and ignored the amused passers-by as well as the drivers honking their horns on seeing her with the sign-post.
Interestingly, when the media asked Hardin - who is working at an administrative post at the Cleveland State University Police Department - to apologize for her irresponsible action, she immediately retorted: "I don't owe y'all nothing. I'm not getting sucked up into this. Go away from me. I'm gonna serve this sentence and get on with my life."
