Paes-Cara breeze into Australian Open quartersIndia’s Leander Paes and his Zimbabwean partner Cara Black have made into the quarterfinal of the mixed doubles event of the first grand slam of the year, Australian open at the Melbourne Park in Melbourne on Monday.

The top seeded Indo-Zimbabwean pair thrashed Uzbek Akgul Amanmuradova and Rik De Voest of South Africa in straight sets 6-4 6-2 in the second round to move to quarterfinals for the sixth time in last eight grand slam events.

Meanwhile, Paes also reached into the quarterfinal of the men’s doubles event as Paes and Czech Lukas Dlouhy have defeated John Isner and Sam Querrey of America 6-3 7-5 in the pre-quarterfinal of the men’s doubles event.

Paes-Dlouhy duo, third seeded, will now play against the winner of the match between fifth seeded Lukasz Kubot of Poland and Austrian Oliver Marach and Croat Ivo Karlovic and Dusan Vemic of Serbia

In the women’s doubles event, India's Rishika Sunkara and Yuki Ito of Japan have crashed out after going down sixth seeded pair of Anna-Lena Friedsam of Germany and Mai Grage of Denmark 7-6(5) 2-6 (6-10) in the first round.
