Pakistan stakeholders should accept court decision on Musharraf, says US

Lahore, Nov 1 : A US State Department spokesman has said that all parties concerned should accept the Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict on President Pervez Musharraf’s dual offices case.

The State Department spokesman described the Supreme Court as the highest court of Pakistan and added that its decision must be acceptable to all.

According to Geo News report, the spokesman refused to comment on news regarding the possible proclamation of an emergency or martial law in the country.

"We are monitoring the situation in Pakistan. Yet, we cannot give any hypothetical comment regarding former premier Benazir Bhutto’s delay in her visit to Dubai," Geo News quoted the spokesman, as saying.

Meanwhile, Benazir Bhutto strongly condemned reports about the imposition of an emergency or any other undemocratic action in the country and warned that the nation would resist such acts.

Bhutto said that some people were wrongly advising Musharraf to take unconstitutional measures, but hoped he would accept the Supreme Court’s judgement. (ANI)
