Washington, Mar 6 : Cate Blancett has been named the best on-screen monarch for her portrayal of English royal Elizabeth I, in a new poll.

The Oscar-winner topped the lovefilm. com survey, held to mark the release of The Young Victoria.

Blanchett narrowly defeated Dame Helen Mirren, who played the role of Elizabeth II in `The Queen', and landed the second spot in the poll.

Standing at the third position in the survey was Sean Connery for his cameo as King Richard in 1991''s `Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves'.

Washington, February 26 : A Ridley Scott-directed adventure film for Universal Pictures will feature actress Cate Blanchett in the role of Maid Marian, alongside Russell Crowe who will be playing Robin Hood.

‘Nottingham’, the film that is undergoing a title change, begins production in early April.

Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer is making it in collaboration with Scott and his Scott Free banner.

Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris originally scripted the drama, but it was later rewritten by Brian Helgeland.

A 130 million-dollar budget has been earmarked for the film’s production, and the producers are hopeful of benefiting from favourable exchange rates and tax credits that come from shooting in London.

Washington, Feb 10 : Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett may soon be seen playing the role of Maid Marian in Ridley Scott's Nottingham, after Sienna Miller was dropped from the flick.

The makers of Nottingham are keen to get `The Lord Of The Ring' actress to replace Miller.

If Cate gives her nod to the flick, she will be seen alongside Russell Crowe, who will play the lead role in the tale of Medieval English outlaw Robin Hood.

Another Nottingham actor Mark Strong thinks that Cate is ideal to replace Miller.
