PML-Q president will be elected in May: Shujaat

Islamabad, Nov 15 : President of PML-Q Chaudhry Shujaat Husain has said that the election for top party slot would be held in May or June next and any regular member or worker of the party has the right to participate in it.

Talking to a TV channel on Friday, Chaudhry Shujaat said he had presented the amendment in the party’s constitution for bar on more than two terms on top party position, but the amendment does not bar relatives of the sitting party president from taking part in the election.

He said all politicians promoted their relatives in politics and it would not be something new if his cousin was a candidate for PML-Q president, The News reported.

Shujaat Hussain has reportedly said the water crisis (between India and Pakistan) could become “extremely dangerous” unless the ongoing water crisis is resolved under the Indus Water Treaty.

“The issue may become more serious than terrorism and can result in a war between Pakistan and India,” the Daily Times quoted Shujaat as saying in a statement.

He said the Indus Water Treaty of 1962 needed ratification by the governments of India and Pakistan.
