WASHINGTON, Dec. 5  -- The federal government must stop using bailouts to rebuild financial institutions, former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer said in his debut as a magazine writer.

Instead of subscribing to the "too big to fail" mentality, the question should be what is the return on investment from providing bailout funds to the financial behemoths, he said in a column published this week in Slate.

Washington, Nov. 27 : House Democrats overseeing the Wall Street bailout will investigate whether federal officers unfairly targeted former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer for hooking up with hookers.

The House Financial Services Committee inquiry could lead to public hearings when Congress reconvenes in January, Fox News reported.

In the interview, scheduled for broadcast on November 21, the New Jersey runaway, who became a high-priced hooker, will most probably not be talking about Spitzer.

“People who think this is all about Eliot Spitzer are going to be disappointed,” the New York Daily News quoted an insider as saying.

“Diane has done extensive reporting on prostitution. This is another chapter in that reporting,” the insider said.

Washington, Nov 7 : Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer will not be charged with any crime over his role in a prostitution scandal, federal prosecutors say.

Spitzer was forced to resign from the office just after two years, following the allegations that he was a regular client of a prostitution ring known as the Emperor''s Club V. I. P.

According to the New York Times, U. S. attorney in Manhattan, Michael J. Garcia announced that Spitzer will not face any federal charges, reports People.
