Washington, December 31: A murder indictment has been issued against Jennifer Hudson's brother-in-law, the main suspect behind the family murders of the actress.

William Balfour had been arrested on charges of first-degree killings of the Oscar-winner's mother, brother and his 7-year-old stepson on December 1.

A Chicago court heard the 27-year-old pleading not guilty to the October murders with his lawyer making a request that his client be shifted from a state prison to Cook County for easier communication.

Washington, Dec 24 : Jennifer Hudson is set to make her very first public appearance after the horrific murder of her family.

The beauty will be performing at the MusiCares person of the year gala on February 6.

Jennifer, whose mother, brother and nephew were allegedly killed by her bother-in-law, will be joined by performers including Tim McGraw, Josh Groban.

Also, Coldplay will belt out the songs of Neil Diamond at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The family’s attorneys, on December 3, said in a Chicago, Illinois court hearing that the accused had confronted the Oscar-winner’s sister, Julia, over her renewed love life before the murder rampage.

CHICAGO, Dec. 3  -- A Chicago judge Wednesday denied bail to William Balfour, charged with killing three members of singer-actress Jennifer Hudson's family.

Balfour was charged Tuesday with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of home invasion in the October slayings of Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew. Balfour is the estranged husband of Hudson's sister Julia.

The Chicago Tribune said Balfour attorney Joshua Kutnick argued Wednesday the case against Balfour is circumstantial and largely based on the word of unreliable witnesses. Kutnick also said there were no witnesses to the crimes and no evidence tying Balfour to the gun believed to have been used in the triple homicide.
