London, Apr 5 : Madonna''s plans of adopting Mercy James dealt another blow after the Malawian child''s "father" came forward and insisted that he was looking forward to being part of her life.

James Kambewa, 24, who fled in disgrace after Mercy''s mother Mwandida, who was a 15-year-old schoolgirl at the time, fell pregnant, told The Mirror: "She is my daughter and I want her to live with me."

London, Apr 4 : British director Guy Ritchie has voiced his sadness over ex-wife Madonna's failed Malawian adoption bid, and insisted that the singer is a "great mum".

A judge at Malawi''s High Court in Lilongwe had rejected the 50-year-old beauty's application to adopt Mercy James, a four-year-old girl, ruling that the child should remain in her home country, reports The Telegraph.

London, Apr 4 : Madonna screamed in disbelief and held her head in her hands yesterday after a judge denied her bid to adopt four-year-old Malawian orphan Chifundo "Mercy" James.

As her lawyer broke the news, the shocked singer yelled: "Whaaat?"

The 50-year-old singer had been told by government officials that Mercy James was "definitely hers", reports The Sun.

London, Apr 3: A Malawi judge has rejected Madonna''s request to adopt a second child from the African country.

"I must have to decline to grant the application to Madonna," The BBC quoted judge Esmie Chondo, as saying in a ruling following a closed-door hearing on Friday.

As for the reason, it is being believed that the application was rejected over residency rules, according to The Associated Press.

The 50-year-old Queen of Pop had reached the southern African state on Sunday and applied to adopt four-year-old Chifundo James, whose name translates into English as Mercy, the following day.

New York, Apr 3: The Malawi government is supporting Madonna''s controversial bid to adopt a baby girl because of the help she''s given the African country.

"Madonna has been good to us," The New York Daily News quoted Information Minister Patricia Kaliati, as saying.

"Very few rich and famous people can take time to fly all the way to Malawi to support our children. We support her adoption process,” the leader added.

According to Kaliati, the 50-year-old has provided support for 25,000 Malawian orphans and has proven she can take care of her first adopted child, David Banda.

Melbourne, Apr 2 : American rapper Vanilla Ice has revealed that he is not happy with the contents of his former girlfriend Madonna''s notorious Sex book.

Vanilla Ice, 41, real name Robert Matthew Van Winkle, had been dating Madge when she posed naked in the street in her 1990 Sex book, and photographed simulating sex with her.

"I wasn''t too happy with the book when I saw it. It threw me into the slutty package," the Daily Telegraph quoted him as saying.
