Terrorism can adversely affect economic progress: Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Apr 15 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday expressed his concern on the ill-effects of terrorism on the nation and admitted that if the world economy fails to tackle terrorism, it can adversely affect the investment scenario and economic progress of the country.

Meeting with members of the Editor''''s Guild here, Dr. Singh, however, said that the consensus among world leaders is that the global economy will be in a much better position by September.

Interacting with members of the Editors Guild of India, Dr. Singh rejected as "not true" Pakistan's contention that India has not provided sufficient evidence to Pakistan in connection with the 26/11 attacks.

Maoist rebels attack police in eastern India on eve of elections

JharkhandNew Delhi - Maoist rebels stepped up attacks in eastern India Wednesday on the eve of general elections, blowing up a bus carrying police and attacking a paramilitary camp, news reports said. A group of Maoists attacked a convoy carrying Central Reserve Police Force personnel on election duty in Jharkhand state's Latehar district, PTI news agency reported.

Five Maoists and two police officers were killed, police force sources were quoted as saying.

In a separate incident in neighbouring Bihar state, a group of at least 100 Maoists attacked a camp of the paramilitary Border Security Force in Rohtas district.

Advani has described Singh as the weakest Prime Minister the country has seen, while Singh has countered by saying he would not like to give Advani the privilege of being an alternative Prime Minister by joining a debate with him.

"If you read my statement, you will get my answer. Weakness or strength does not come from loud speaking. It comes from your capacity to react on time. The BJP leader has a unique ability to combine strength in speech with weakness in action," Singh said at a press conference here.
