London, Dec. 16 : When batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar played the paddle shot to fine-leg to register India's victory against England and his 41st Test century in the first Test in Chennai on Monday, that victory stroke made hair on the neck stand up, claims former England fast bowler Angus Fraser.

In article for The Independent, Fraser says that it is not every day that you hear a cricket team chase down the highest total on home soil, and for Tendulkar to be there at the end and ensure that it happened for India, was not only miraculous, but heartwarming for a connoisseur of the game.

Chennai, Dec 15 : Chasing down the fourth-highest total in Test cricket, India couldn't have picked a better moment to create history and as they completed a famous six-wicket here.

Sachin Tendulkar masterminded the historic success with a perfect century. Alongside Yuvraj Singh's 85 they added an unbeaten 163, sapping the England spirit that had carried them into such a dominant position.

India chased 387 runs in the fourth innings to go one up in the series. Scenes of a hysteric crowd cheering dot balls as Yuvraj ensured Tendulkar had time to reach his 41st century dominated the closing stages.

A Mumbai cop deployed for Sachin Tendulkar’s security accidentally misfired and hurt himself while testing his pistol at master blaster’s residence at Bandra (West) on Saturday.

The bodyguard, Chandrasen Chigvan (35) had just joined the duty on day shift and a constable who was on night duty had handed him the pistol after he removed the magazine, although a bullet remained in the pistol.

While standing at the gate of the building Lamer, Chandrasen thought that the pistol was empty so he tried to test the trigger and it misfired and injured his finger.
 

Master-blaster batsman Sachin Tendulkar was named in India's one-day cricket squad for the next two matches against England, marking the champion batsman's return to one-day fold after a gap of eight months.

All-rounder Irfan Pathan was also included in the squad while fellow pacer Rudra Prasad Singh and Tamil Nadu opener Murali Vijay, who were in the team for the first three matches of the seven match series, have been left out.

Headed by former skipper K Srikkanth, the national selection committee, decided to make just two changes in the 15-member squad.

The Nagpur Police Commissioner, Praveen Dixit, confirmed reports of JeM threat to ace cricket player Sachin Tendulkar stating, "The Central government has issued a high-alert for Sachin...They have information that the JeM has issued a threat to him."

However, keeping in mind the terror threats on the Aussies, he took a U-Turn and said, "There is no specific threat to any individual player and there is no threat input".

He further added that the security arrangements would be usual and uniform.

Nagpur/New Delhi, Nov 3 : Security around master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has been stepped up on Monday following Maharashtra Police receiving reports from Central agencies of a threat to him from Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed.

However, intelligence sources in Delhi said they had not received any fresh input about any threat to Tendulkar other than in 2002.
