Virender SehwagGurgaon: With the ICC Cricket World Cup just a little over a month away, out-of-favour batsman Virender Sehwag on Friday wished the Indian team and hoped that the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side would be able to defend its title in Australia and New Zealand.

"We are going to play the World Cup and we are the defending champion, so I hope we do well and bring this trophy to India and give lot of joy to Indian public," Sehwag said posing with the ICC World Cup Trophy which was showcased to cricket fans at Cyber Hub here.

Tendulkar, SehwagJohannesburg, December 20 : Legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar and swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag have been named in the former Australian batsman Matthew Hayden's list of all-time greatest ever World Cup XI.

Earlier, International Cricket Council ( ICC ) launched an online campaign 'Your Greatest XI', which allows fans a unique chance to pick their greatest cricketers from the previous ten editions of the event.

Hayden's list comprises of four Australian cricketers namely Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Ricky Ponting, who is also the captain of the side, Sport24 reported.

Punjab, which will meet the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL final in Bangalore on Sunday, managed 226 for six in their innings, which was highlighted by a magnificent 122 off 58 balls by Sehwag, including twelve fours and eight sixes.

Delhi won the toss and chose to bat. Cricket lovers expected some fireworks from Sehwag but that wasn't to be. He faced three balls and was caught at point off Asif Rasool. Unmukt Chand made 23 in 25 balls, with four boundaries.

Milind Kumar scored 40 runs off 31 balls, smashing three fours and a six.

Chasing the 134-run target, J&K scored 116 runs losing nine wickets in 20 overs.

bhajji-sehwagNew Delhi, Mar 7 : Opener Virender Sehwag has been dropped from the Indian Test team to face Australia in the remaining two matches of the Airtel Test series while another veteran Harbhajan Singh has been retained.

Openers Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan have been both named in the 14-man Indian squad, announced by the All-India Senior Selection Committee.

The third Test will be played at Mohali from 14 March 2013 to 18 March 2013, and the fourth at Delhi from 22 March 2013 to 26 March 2013.

"This team has lot of bench-strength. We did not have Yuvraj Singh and M. S. Dhoni in the team. It's a good sign for India that the youngsters are playing well. Sehwag said they are not going to give up the 2-1 lead and will be looking to win the series before the last ODI at Delhi.

The Indian team were in a similar position in their last series against Australia, but lost 4-2.
