Pepsi plans to launch healthier craft sodas

Pepsi is looking forward to introduce a new line of soda in the US. This is a step taken by the company to enter the growing health conscious US market.

According to Time, PepsiCo is planning to release natural soda flavors in a fountain made to resemble a craft beer dispenser. Flavors like orange hibiscus, black cherry with tarragon, pineapple cream, and agave vanilla cream will be included in the new line. The flavors will include naturally-sweetened sugar cane in place of high-fructose corn syrup.

As per a report published on Nada website, it seems that the line of sodas is an effort to respond to the 10-year fall in soda consumption. As consumers prefer natural alternatives and energy drinks over the traditional soda, therefore companies such as Pepsi have taken steps to reproduce some of the artisan approaches of smaller manufacturers.

The companies like Coca Cola and Pepsi have also been working with zero-calorie sweeteners in order to shift from the high-fructose versions of the mainstream sodas.

The company has not yet announced restaurant partners for the new line of sodas. Many small soda companies such as Jones Soda Co. and Reed's Inc. have been making efforts to introduce changes in Big Soda. Reed's brands consist of Virgil's Root Beer and Reed's Original Ginger Brew; its revenue increased 16% last year to $43.4 million, according to the company. A number of small craft brewers together with Grand Teton Brewing and Appalachian Brewing Co. are also involved in making sodas.
