Budapest - Hungarian police arrested two men in connection with the murder last year of a Roma couple in the the southern city of Pec, the locla media reported Saturday.

A 43-year-old former policeman and his 41-year-old brother have been accused of throwing a hand grenade into the home of a Roma family, killing the mother and father, and lightly injuring two of the couple's three children.

Police speculated "personal revenge" as the motive for the November attack, as well as a connection with criminal activity.

Also being probed are a series of attacks against Roma in Hungary, including the Monday shooting deaths of a Roma man and his young son after their house was set ablaze in a town near Budapest. (dpa)
