In yet another case on poll-related Naxal violence, a Congress leader was killed by Naxalites in the Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.

Supporters of the National Conference and Congress clashed in north Kashmir’s Ganderbal district during Omar Abdullah’s road show there.

After showing door to Margaret Alva, the Congress on Thursday relieved Yogendra Makwana as chairman of its Scheduled Caste department. And the reason cited was “gross indiscipline” for publicly criticizing the party’s functioning.

“The party has taken a serious view of his conduct and consequently the Congress president has relieved him from the chairmanship of the SC department of the AICC with immediate effect,” general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said.

Dr. Makwana, a former Union Minister had been publicly criticising the party’s policies and functioning for quite a long time.

New Delhi, Nov. 12 : The Congress party on Wednesday accepted the resignation of its gneral secretary and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Margaret Alva.

The resignation was accepted on the basis of a report prepared by the party''s Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) chairman and Defence Minister A. K. Antony.

Washington, Oct. 16: A fast-growing anti-Republican wave threatens to significantly shrink the party''s ranks in Congress.

According to the Washington Times, nearly a dozen Senate Republicans are locked in tight races with Democrats.

Analysts and operatives agree that such a change could put Democrats within reach of a filibuster-proof, 60-vote majority.

Democrats also are poised to make significant gains in the House, where they now have a 36-seat majority in the 435-member chamber.

Analysts are predicting that Republicans could lose as many as 30 additional seats, which are nearly double recent expectations for net losses.
