15 killed, 42 injured as train derails in IndiaNew Delhi  - At least 15 people were killed and 42 wounded when a passenger train derailed in India's eastern state of Orissa on Friday, officials said.

Fourteen coaches of the Coromandel Express overturned in the Jajpur area, situated some 120 kilometres north of the state capital of Bhubaneshwar on Friday evening.

"Fifteen bodies were brought to the local state-run hospital," Indian Railways spokesman JP Mishra said. "At least 42 injured are receiving first-aid and treatment at the hospital," he added.

The rioting broke out after an illegal immigrant fell from a window at one of the detention centres.

The man was taken to hospital where his condition was not immediately known.

As news of the incident spread, detainees at another centre also rampaged, the officials of the Mediterranean island-state said.

Firefighters intervened to put out a blaze allegedly started by the rioters in one of the centre's dormitories.

Three killed, 50 injured as train derails in India New Delhi  - At least three people were killed and 50 wounded when a passenger train derailed in India's eastern state of Orissa on Friday, media reports quoting police said.

Twelve coaches of the Coromandel Express overturned in the Jajpur area situated some 120 kilometres north of state capital Bhubaneshwar on Friday evening, the NDTV network reported.

Orissa police chief Manmohan Prahraj told the PTI news agency that three people were killed in accident and 50 injured.

Oldest known swan found dead in DenmarkCopenhagen - The remains of what is believed to have been the world's oldest mute swan have been found in Denmark, researchers at Copenhagen University said Friday.

The dead ringed bird was discovered on December 25 near the town of Korsor on the island of Zealand by swan expert Pelle Andersen- Harild.

The leg ring was sent to the Copenhagen Bird Ringing Centre at the Zoological Museum at Copenhagen University where records suggested that the swan had been ringed on February 21, 1970, at Heikendorf near Kiel in northern Germany.
