Power generating plant in Colorado which has been annoying neighbors, shut down for repairs
According to official reports, a noisy new power generating plant in Colorado that's been annoying neighbors has been shut down for repairs.
The Denver Post reported on Wednesday that Xcel spokesman Mark Stutz said the Comanche 3 plant near Pueblo will be idle while workers repair boiler-tub leaks and install baffles intended to reduce the high-pitched noises residents have been experiencing.
It was also reported that the work is scheduled to begin this week.
The billion-dollar plant has sounded like a giant vacuum cleaner or hair dryer to some nearby residents since Excel sought to put it into operation last fall.
Anita Munoz, who lives about 2 miles away, told the Post of the decision to shut down the plant, "It is a huge relief. People who have been spending nights in motels can go home." (With Inputs from Agencies)
