In Rajasthan, youngsters raised toast on New Year with milk

Rajasthan MapJaipur, Jan. 1: By raising a toast of milk for the New Year, a group of teetotallers from the Rajasthan University tried to prove that there could be big joy even sans booze.

Organised by the students of Rajasthan University, the Milk Party drew around 10,000 persons who claimed to have relished about
1,000 litres of hot and sweet milk.

The liquor guzzling revellers demonstrated that they could have the same enjoyment that like those who guzzled spirited beverages.

"In the last few years, the liquor culture and western modes have gripped the younger generation. Hence, this programme was organised with an aim to protect the youngsters from the harmful effects of liquor on them," said Sarvesh Joshi, President of the Rajasthan Youth Students Association.

"Today, I read about it in the newspaper. Believe me, I was so happy that people are actually discouraging liquor and coming here to drink milk instead. I have arrived here to witness it with a friend. Besides, if we continued with this culture, we'll certainly uproot the menace of liquor forever," said Mohammad Ali, a local. (ANI)
