Melbourne, Aug 3 : Want to make your child shine in the classroom? Well, just make him regular with his homework routine and his academic success is guaranteed, says a new research.

The research examined the study habits of three groups of Year 3 students and found that Chinese children spent more time on their homework, completed more work and did it on a more regular basis than Anglo or Pacific Island students.

The study by University of Western Sydney researchers and the New South Wales (NSW) Education Department challenges the myth that Chinese students perform better at school because of a cultural disposition to study.

Oz police mulls having drunk tanks to hold intoxicated troublemakers

Melbourne, August 3 : Senior police officers in Australia are considering having special cells to hold intoxicated troublemakers until they sober up.

They even held talks with the Brumby Government this week about the cells, dubbed ‘drunk tanks’.

It is believed that the tanks would be similar to holding cells but with safeguards to protect detainees’ health.

The tanks could be modelled on overseas "bed-and-bucket" facilities and security cameras, allowing drunks to be treated and closely monitored.

Police Minister Bob Cameron has confirmed that the issue was raised this week.

Another scare for Australia's Qantas

SydneyAustralias Qantas Airlines - A Qantas flight bound for Manila on Saturday returned to Sydney and made an emergency landing.

An Air Services Australia spokesman said the pilot declared an emergency, dumped fuel and turned back shortly after take off.

"Air traffic controllers received a call from the pilot declaring an emergency and proceeded to give priority clearance for a landing at Sydney," the spokesman told Australia's AAP news agency.

The cause of the emergency is as yet unknown.
