Bihar Cabinet to induct two new faces todayPatna, Apr. 1 : Two new ministers, Bhavesh Chandra Thakur and Renu Kumari, will join the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar Government on Wednesday.

Governor R L Bhatia will administer oath of office to them at Raj Bhavan.

Thakur and Kumari would be filling in the space vacated by the resignation of Agriculture Minister Nagmani and Minister of State for Disaster Management Nitish Mishra following denial of tickets for the Lok Sabha elections to them.

Both new faces have been strategically chosen to represent the same caste as that of outgoing ministers.

Congress to field candidates against RJD, LJP

Lalu Prasad YadavPatna, Mar 31 : The Congress Party on Tuesday said that it would field its candidates in Bihar against the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo, Lalu Prasad Yadav, and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan, who it considers as its biggest enemies in the coming general elections.

Agitated over the decision by the RJD and LJP to contest all the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, state PCC chief Anil Kumar Sharma said, "RJD and LJP have made Congress their enemy number one in the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar."

Rahul Gandhi to campaign in Bihar on Wednesday New Delhi, Mar 30 : Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi will start his party's campaign for the upcoming general elections from Bihar's Buxar District on Wednesday.

According to party sources, Rahul will address a public meeting in Buxar. From here, former Central Minister K K Tiwari is a candidate from Congress.

Later in second week of April, Congress president Sonia Gandhi will also begin her campaign for the party.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister MayawatiBhagalpur, Mar 29 : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Sunday claimed that her party was the only alternative to the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), whose policies are influenced by big houses and brokers.

"The BSP is the only alternative to the Congress and the BJP," Mayawati told a rally here.

The BSP supremo blamed the Congress and the BJP for ruining country during their stints in power.

Lalu files nomination for Saran seat

Lalu files nomination for Saran seatChapra (Bihar), Mar 28: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Saturday filed his nomination papers from the Saran constituency for the upcoming general elections.

Lalu, who was accompanied by Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, filed his papers before Additional District Magistrate Madan Pandey, who is the returning officer for the seat.

In 2004, Lalu had won the Chapra seat defeating former Minister of Civil Aviation and BJP''s spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy by 60,423 votes.

Alliance with SP only to strengthen secular bloc: LaluPatna, Mar 27 : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad on Friday said that his party and Ram Vilas Paswan led Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) had allied with the Samajwadi Party (SP) President Mulayam Singh only to strengthen the secular bloc and defeat the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Prasad said that they had not formed a front against the UPA.

"I have no hidden agenda and want to make it clear that I am with the UPA and will be in it in the coming days," he added.
