Exiled Tibetan monks attend a human rights conference in Dharamshala

Exiled Tibetan monksDharamshala, Sept 5: Exiled Tibetan monks, living in India and neighbouring countries, have gathered here to take part in a human rights conference.

Tibetan Center for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD), a Tibetan NGO, has organised seven days workshop exclusively for monks and nuns of India, Nepal and Bhutan to make them aware about the principles of democracy and human rights.

The organizers feel that this is necessary for the Buddhists monks and nuns as they are mostly tied up in the work of the monasteries or with the Buddhist studies.

Tibetans in Delhi organise prayer session to mark 48th Democracy Day

Tibet MapNew Delhi, Sept 2 : The Tibetans-in-exile today organised a prayer session in New Delhi to mark the 48th anniversary of their government-in-exile at Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh.

Tibetans do not celebrate the occasion with fanfare, but they perform prayers to mark the Democracy Day.

Tibetan activists, attending the special session, said that they were taking a small break from the months-long protest but the struggle would continue with the same vigour.

Kiren Rijiju, an MP from Arunachal Pradesh, who also attended the ceremony, called for the government’s intervention in the issue.

Tibetans pray for the speedy recovery of Dalai Lama

Dalai LamaDharamsala/New Delhi/Mumbai, August 30 : Tibetans-in-exile in parts of India on Saturday prayed for the speedy recovery of their spiritual leader Dalai Lama.

He was taken to a hospital in Mumbai on Thursday after he complained of exhaustion.

The Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, cancelled all his engagements for the next three weeks to undergo medical check-up and take rest.

Tibetans in Dharamsala gathered in the main Buddhist temple premises to participate in the ''Global Tibet Fast'' campaign spearheaded by the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama to highlight the "Tibetan cause".

Tibet MapDharamsala, Aug 30 : Tibetans in Dharamsala participated in the ''Global Tibet Fast'' campaign spearheaded by the Dalai Lama to highlight the "Tibetan cause" today.

The 12-hour fast and prayers for peace and freedom is being organised by the Tibetan Solidarity Committee.

The Tibetan Prime Minister-in-exile Samdong Rinpoche said that the one-day fast was a part of the prayers for world peace in general and the sufferings in Tibet and China in particular.

Tibetans-in-exile take out protest march in Dharamsala against China

tibetDharamsala , Aug 10 : Continuing with their agitation against China, the Tibetans-in-exile took out a protest march here today. Scores of Tibetans exiles and monks marched down the narrow hilly roads shouting slogans against the Chinese and demanding freedom for their homeland.

The protesters said they were hopeful that their protests would bear fruit and China would be compelled to take some concrete steps regarding Tibet.

“We are very optimistic about this. It will affect the Chinese Government. They will do something for the benefit of Tibet,” said Tenzin Norbu, a Tibetan monk.
